On Friday 21st June Techniquest played host to a gaming extravaganza, Teen Lates – Level up!
An event strictly for 12-17-year olds, our first Teen Lates event saw teens come along after hours to play a range of modern-day games, as well as exploring consoles from 1972 to the present day with our Generation Games exhibition.
There were five new and exciting gaming stations for those who attended to show off their skills.
Gaming Squad’s state-of-the-art luxury gaming van was on site and allowed the gamers to jump inside and take part in an unforgettable multiplayer gaming session. The luxury, state-of-the-art mobile gaming theatre was packed with the latest tech and gadgetry. Inside gamers found the latest in console gaming technology, multi-player games, wall to wall 4K TV’s and dedicated bass booming sound bars!
Who doesn’t love Mario Kart?! Our Teen Lates gamers certainly did as they took part in an old-school Mario Kart fastest lap competition with their friends winning vouchers for their favourite consoles with the Welsh Gaming Network.
Many teen’s dream would be to develop their very own game, and our gamers were able to do just that! They took part in coding workshops where they learnt how to make their own snake game, courtesy of Technocamps.
Recoil, an indie multiplayer game being developed by students from the University of South Wales was onsite enabling gamers to experience how it feels to actually be the gun!
Belong Gaming Arenas hosted Rocket League and FIFA 1v1 tournaments where gamers were able to indulge in a little healthy competition with the opportunity to win a range of prizes. Nobody left empty handed as there were freebies for everyone!
We were delighted to see so many teens take part in our event and show off their gaming talents!
As we aim to launching the Science Capital project, we will be developing more Teen Lates events in the near future, so stay tuned.
