Techniquest

Thousands of visitors to educational charity Techniquest are being urged to share their inspirational ideas for inspiring the next generation of scientists.

The Cardiff-based discovery centre has teamed up with Simply Do Ideas to set a challenge for visitors to uncover innovative ideas to boost future STEM learning.

The challenge, which is open until the 31st July, aims to identify new ways of inspiring the future innovators of Wales.

As part of the initiative the public is being asked to submit their own original ideas to promote STEM education, in an effort to motivate and inspire the future workforce. Ideas can also be submitted online using the Simply Do Ideas platform.

Lesley Kirkpatrick, CEO at Techniquest said: “We’re delighted to be working alongside Lee Sharma and the team at Simply Do Ideas to engage with our visitors and the general public.

“At Techniquest, our aim is to embed science in Welsh culture with interactive learning experiences. We’re always working hard to make science fun, entertaining and accessible for everyone and we recognise that public insight will be instrumental in helping us develop our strategies. The Simply Do platform is the perfect way to capture these crucial light bulb moments.

“We’re thrilled to be looking at new ways to encourage young people into STEM career paths, and we’re all looking forward to seeing what people come up with.”

Lee Sharma, CEO at Simply Do Ideas said: “We’ve had such a great time working with Techniquest to develop this challenge, and we’re excited and eager to unlock the great ideas our nation has. These ideas which could provide a solution to challenges Wales faces with huge social impact now and for future generations.

“I’d encourage any person who has ever shown an interest in education or STEM to sign up and have a close look at the challenge. A fresh pair of eyes brings a new perspective and experience and your ideas could change the way things are done.”
